So Hum
I am THAT
So ~ I am
Hum ~ that
That refers to creation, the one breathing us all
We use this mantra to calm the nervous system and focus the mind. By repeating, So Hum, the practitioner deepens their understanding of one's connection to the universe and promotes spiritual growth. With the devotional offering of So Hum, "I am THAT" becomes "I am that pure awareness".
Put your mantra on repeat. Use your mantra as part of your morning practice, Breathe it into your blood, Breathe it into your bones. Then take your mantra into your day. While you are driving: mantra. While you are doing the dishes: mantra. While you are walking your dog: mantra.
Find a comfortable seat with a tall spine.
Allow for a few natural breaths, witness.
When you feel ready begin to invite a deeper sense of breath:
Inhale: So
Exhale: Hum
